January 4 is the official date that is celebrated journalists and communicators in Mexico.

This date was established in honor of the death anniversary of writer and journalist Manuel Caballero, who is considered the pioneer of journalism in Mexico.

Manuel Caballero was born in 1849, in Tequila, Jalisco. He attributed many journalistic works that generated much controversy.

According to the book "Centenarians and fiftieth anniversaries," Manuel Caballero was the first to use the tabloid way to present the most important notes on the pages. Before that, no concern for imparting an original format your research.

His research work were a great example for modern journalism and today is remembered as the first Mexican reporter. Throughout his career, he received several awards and prizes. He was also the principal founder of The Noticioso and West Mercury.

Journalism is a profession committed to social reality, truth and morality. So journalists should contemplate analyze and describe the different cultural, political and economic events, objectively and comprehensively, so that society is informed about its reality and everyday events and can make better decisions based on this
