Kissimmee

Kissimmee is a town in Osceola County in state of Florida. The territory was initially named Allendale, after Confederate Major J.h. Allen who worked the first load steamboat along the Kissimmee River - the Mary Belle. It was renamed Kissimmee when joined as a city in 1883. The name, Kissimmee, originated from 'Cacema', a Native American name signifying 'long water'. Its development can be credited to Hamilton Disston of Philadelphia, who based his four-million section of land (8,000 km2) waste operation out of the residential community. Disston had contracted with the fiscally unbalanced state of Florida to empty its southern grounds, for which he would possess a large portion of all he effectively emptied. This arrangement made Disston the biggest single landowner in the United States. There are numerous spots to visit in the city of Kissimmee. The rundown of spots to visit in this city are-

First United Methodist Church, Colonial Estate, Monument of States, Kissimmee Historic District, Osceola Center for the Arts, Old Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Osceola County Courthouse (Florida), Old Osceola Courthouse - Oldest continually operating courthouse in state, Pine Island, Osceola County Welcome Center and History Museum, Old_Town_(amusement_park), Makinson Island, Orange World - World's Largest Orange, Grass Island and Jungeland (defunct) - World's Second Largest Gator (still a roadside attraction)
