The tests carried out confirm that Leo Messi has suffered a tear in the medial collateral ligament of his left knee. He will be out for around six to eight weeks according to a statement from the Club’s Medical Staff. Leo Messi was replaced by Munir after 10 minutes of the first half of the game between FC Barcelona and UD Las Palmas after the striker had complained of trouble with his left knee. In one of the first incidents of the game, in the third minute, the Argentine went down injured after attempting a shot with his left foot inside the Las Palmas six year box. At the moment of contact the Barça player’s left knee collided with the opposition defender Pedro Bigas.

The last time that Leo Messi missed a game due to injury was during the season 2013/14, on 10 November 2013. The Argentine suffered a muscle injury in a league game against Betis which forced him to miss nine matches in all competitions.
