Mosque bombing in Pakistan

At the minimum 14 people were assassinated and over 40 wounded in a strong bomb assault at a minority Shia mosque in Pakistan's Sindh province during the weekly Friday prayers, police told. The bombing happened in Lakidar region of Shikarpur, around 470 kilometres north of here. Facts of the assault were not instantly known but private media told it could be suicide bombing.

Sindh heath minister Jam Mehtab told 14 people were finished off and over 40 others were wounded in the assault during the Friday prayers. SSP Shikarpur Saqib Ismail Memon assured the assault and told around 40 people were wounded. Many wounded were said to be in a serious condition. The explosion is the recent in a rising tide of sectarian violence blighting Pakistan.
