October Newsletter Update

Posted on at

Suddenly, Paris has become a lot colder and it’s fair to say that autumn is definitely here to stay. Luckily though ÉCU hasn’t been spending much time in Paris at all this month!

The first adventure abroad was when ÉCU went to Raindance in London in October to check out what is going on with Independent cinema on the other side of the channel. Almost straight away, the team was off again to host “ÉCU in Georgia”, which was a huge success. ÉCU was very proud to take some of its films to this beautiful country, and the weekend was a huge buzz for the team who went. The weekend included full cinemas for our screenings, television and radio appearances by the team, and the ÉCU trailer playing on a big screen in the city centre all week. The city of Tbilisi was a perfect location for our festival, and the only regret is that the team were so busy they couldn’t explore more of this up-and-coming city.

This weekend ÉCU is going to be in two places – our festival manager Kadi has got the hard job of spending a few days in the sun, sea and surf of Cyprus for the International Short Film Festival there, whilst we also have a screening at the Accademia Nazionale de Cine in Bologna organised by Alessia.

Here in Paris there has been a lot going on as well – including the launch of our new promo video – featured some of our past and present interns! We’ve also put together a calendar of things to do in Paris this month, reviewed Silhouette film festival, reported on our events all over Europe and had an interview with Vicky Mathers, ÉCU alumni and director of Stanley Pickle – as well as having a look at the submissions that keep coming in.

Needless to say, it’s been another busy month for ÉCU, and we’re sure you’ll enjoy reading all about it. Until the next newsletter, you can stay up-to-date by visiting our website and social media channels!
