On becoming a millionaire

ON BECOMING A MILLIONAIRE

Approximately two months ago, I started playing Bitlanders. When I first began, I had did not have Satoshi, and I earned Satoshi at only the slowest of rates.  Fortunately, I worked really hard, and the rate increased.  Now, at the two month point, I have something very wonderful to report.  I am am becoming a millionaire.

That's right.  Tommorow morning, unless I happen to die in my sleep, I will sign in, and earn my one millionth Satoshi here in Bitlanders.  I always used to see other people here on Bitlanders who were millionaires, but I never thought I would be one.

I live in the United States, so I look at the dollar market value.  The market value of one millionth Satoshis is one third of one cent.  It is interesting to note that the Canadian government got rid of cents, which were worth 15% less than American cents, because the coin was deemed as no longer conveying any value.  America does not get rid of cents or nickels (5 cents), both of which cost more to make than they are actually worth, because special interest lobbies in states that manufacture the coins bribe American politicians not to let the American government stop making them.

Still, American pennies are quite common in America, and if you walk down the street you have a good chance of finding one lying there abandoned, as noone will pick it up, because noone will buy anything with it.  The American government no longer makes them out of copper because the cost of copper is too high, so they make the coins out of zinc, and alot of times the coin takes on a rotten look, as if it were disintegrating like an old piece of food.  Too bad you cannot really buy any food with it.

If you collect 75 pennies, you buy a cup of coffee for three dollars, you can buy a small packet of catch up or mayonaise, which packets MacDonalds will give to you for free if you buy any sandwhich.  For three dollars, you can buy a coffee.  If you buy the coffee, you get the milk and sugar for free, each of which is worth between 25 and 50 pennies.

So, my million Satoshi is worth one third of one of these pennies, and if I collect three million Satoshi, I can trade it in for one penny.  At that rate, I would only need to do that 300 more times before I could afford that invigorating warms of a fresh brew.

I've worked hard these past two months, earning these 1,000,000 Satoshi, so I don't suppose I will be trading them in for pennies, or coffee, or for that matter gems.    What a fool I would be.  If I were to trade away my Satoshi, I would no longer be a Satoshi millionaire.  Where would then I be?

Satoshis are really stock options which, if held, maybe redeemable one day for something with actual value, or they might not.  If they become redeemable, they may be worth quite a bit indeed.

I am a millionaire... or at least I will be come tomorrow morning.  It is a great feeling to have a millionaire.  I am thankful for the honor, and will not give it up for a second... even to buy the gems which are supposed to make me a multiple millionaire.   I will not be one of these millionaires that becomes greedy and forgets where he came from.  I am happy just having one million.   I only have a few friends, and most of them are cats, but I don't think I am better than them just because they don't have a millionaire, and I am a bona fide millionaire Satoshi.

It is getting cold here along the windy Hudson River as winter sets in and the days shorten.  Still, the son does still shine brightly, and seems all the more precious as the hours of sunlight per day diminish.   I can sit on my porch watching the sail ships and tugboats go by, watching the helicopters fly overhead with their muted olive profiles. and I can feel the sun shine on my skin.  I have to say that the sun feels pretty darn good, if I can avoid wondering why so many helicopters are necessary in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

I can almost just block out this thought, and it feels pretty good to sit in the autumn sun.   Tomorrow, I will be a millionaire.  The sun will feel so much the better.
