In order to improve the quality of life Barani farmers to increase agricultural productivity and stability of their income, Kyber Pakhtunkhwa government, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank launched Barani Area Development Project (Phase I and II BADP) in Kohat in 1993, achieved the status of Barani Agriculture Research Station Kohat in 1999. Kohat Barani Agricultural Research Station is located 13 km from the city of Kohat, BISE Kohat near, Kohat University of Science and Technology, Kohat prison in the main Indus highway.
Agricultural Experiment is a multidisciplinary organization dedicated to research to improve agricultural productivity in developing high performance Aries and drought-resistant crop varieties and improved production technology major agro-ecological station Kohat division. The overall mandate of the station is “Research” for the farmers.

2. Future Prospects:

Systematic research program has been implemented in the research station. Improved varieties of cereal, fodder and vegetable crops well are evolved. A progeny garden of peach, date palmn, Guava, Citrus,Graps, and Ber has been established. True to type plants of guava collected from different areas of Kohat division, fruit growers will be provided. The search will be continuing in the vegetables and seasonal and non-traditional vegetables.
A comprehensive program for the protection of plants will be established for the diagnosis and control of pests and diseases of economic importance of different cultures. The results are and will be transferred to farmers in the region by expanding the SRSC Fund and UNDP.
In addition to research activities for purely Barani, small-scale and low-cost irrigation methods simple and appropriate agricultural technology system will be developed through tube well, spring water, harnessed water and rodkohi irrigation conditions for dry land agriculture.
