Pancake Day Events in London UK

Do you enjoy Pancake Day? I do. It's the day we eat pancakes and enjoy all things that surround it here in the UK.

Pancake Day is called Shrove Tuesday and it is the day before Lent. Shrove Tuesday is due on 4th March. This day takes place 47 days before Easter Sunday.

There are many events in London on Pancake Day, such as, Pancake races, breakfast club pancake challenges and great places to eat pancakes all around London.

Here are four events on Pancake Day in London on 4th March 2014

One of the Pancake Day races events will be taking place at Bankside near London Bridge tube station on 4th March. It will be great fun to watch or even go to join in. This is an annual race where you have to flip a pancake as you run along.

Another event on Pancake Day will be the TV show 'Man v Food', the Breakfast Club event of getting diners to do a pancake-eating challenge. You can go to any of the cafés in Angel, Hoxton, Spitalfields and Soho and order a plate of 12 pancakes and a timer will be set to 15 minutes. Eat the lot of it as fast as you can and you get the whole thing for free. If you can't eat it all though, you will have to pay the £17.50 bill.

Another event that will take place on Pancake Day will be the Spitalfields Pancake Race. Teams dress up in costumes to celebrate the day by running up and down Dray Walk, off Brick Lane, flipping pancakes to raise money for London's Air Ambulance. It's great just to go and watch.

For a bit of life and fun, you can go to the Pancake Day celebration at a Shoreditch creperie called Shutterbug. They are throwing a fun Pancake Day event with cocktails, carnival dancers, DJs and musicians. They will be combining European Pancake Day with Caribbean Mardi Gras with crepes and rum cocktails. Traditional crepes will be served from 9am until late when the party starts at 6.30pm.

So, who will be eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday?
