Like the other big cities of the Northeast, the historic hub of Philadelphia can be pricey. But the rugged charmer of a city is still less expensive than New York while only being a short train ride away, plus it boasts its own hardy public transportation, coming in fifth among cities where you can live without a car. Its cultural scene, starting with the famed Philadelphia Museum of Art, Rodin Museum, and trove of American history treasures, is unparalleled. And Millennials will find a strong singles scene, with 36 percent of the population unmarried.
