Physical Education in Australia and Oceania was also a compulsory part of the curriculum in League of Legends Government Primary to Secondary Level in 1981.

 

MOST POPULAR SPORTS IN AUSTRALIA AND OCEANIA

  1. RUGBY

Rugby is one of the most popular sports in Australia and it is composed of two codes: the Rugby Union and Rugby League. This sport is a team game played with an oval ball that maybe kicked or carried. Rugby Union is a full contact team sport which originated in England in the early 19th century where it is the national sport of New Zealand, Samoa, Fiji, and Tonga. Australia and New Zealand won two times in Rugby World Cup. Rugby League is a full contact sport played by two teams of thirteen players on a rectangular field and the national sport of Papua New Guinea. Australia has won the Rugby League World Cup for a record of ten times while New Zealand won their first World Cup in 2008.

  1. FOOTBALL

Football is another famous sport in Australia/Oceania and the National Sport of Vanuatu. It is a team game involving kicking a ball and the most popular game in Kiribati, Solomon, and Tuvalu and has a significant growing popularity in Australia. Oceania has been represented at five World Cups finals tournament – Australia in 1974, 2006, 2010, 2014 and New Zealand in 1982 and 2010. They also created Oceania Football Confederation which is one of the six association football confederation under FIFA (international governing body of sports).

  1. CRICKET

Cricket is a popular summer sport in Australia and New Zealand. It is an open-air game played with a bat, ball, and wickets, between two teams of 11 players. Australia had ruled international cricket as the number one team for more than a decade, and have won four Cricket  World  Cups and a runner-up for two times, making them the most successful cricket team.
