Pollard and Starc deadly fight on the pitch

Given that the Indian Premier League is arguably the most dramatic and thrilling Twenty Twenty League in the world, it is no surprise that something unusually weird happens on the pitch. Cricket players are trained professionals and their behaviors have to be extremely disciplined in order for them to be continuing with their careers.

Cricketers are amongst the most disciplined off all sports persons in the world, so it’s always a disgrace when one or more players behave badly on the cricket pitch.

The 7th edition of the Indian Premier League, IPL 7 laid forth one of the deadliest confrontations between players on a cricketing pitch. It was during the 27th match of the season between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Mumbai Indians, when a dangerous fight broke out between powerful West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard and Aussie fast bowler Mitchel Starc.

The two didn’t seem to like each other much, and when Starc bowled a brilliant bouncer which Pollard missed, the Aussie pace man taunted Pollard who gestured at Starc to turn around and ball again. But when Starc ran to bowl the second last ball of the over, Pollard moved away from the crease, gesturing that he was distracted by something from the surroundings. Starc, frustrated as ever, bowled the delivery straight at Pollard, despite the big Caribbean moving away. Starc’s throw enraged Pollard to the core, who lodged the bat straight into the direction of Starc.

Much to the relief of everyone at the stadium, the bat slipped out of Pollard’s grip and didn’t land close to Starc. Virat Kohli rushed to the umpire to complain about Pollard’s behavior on the pitch and the matter was chilled out by the umpires.
