Reunion Island

An island of true contrasts, the French department of Reunion is unknown to many of the world's travelers. That is unfortunate! This unique island in the middle of the Indian Ocean is simply one of the most intriguing spots on earth. You have ever seen this most amazing and most loving place. In some respects Reunion Island is Mother Earth in micro - there are tropical beaches and 3000m high peaks, volcanoes and forests. This contrast is reflected in its human population and the cultural diversity.  After a long-haul flight, you step off the plane and you are greeted with a bonjour. Then you breakfast on croissants and hot chocolate. At first glance, Reunion is like a chunk of Frances teleported to the tropics.  There are different mind-blowing places like The West, St-Denis, The Cirques, The East, St-Pierre. Cilaos, St-Leu, The Wild South, Les Hautes Plaines, Cirque de Salazie, Hell-bourg, Plain-des-Cafres and many more. The island could well be a blue print for the future if it can withstand the globalization, Reunion has people of different religions. In addition, most of them are Roman Catholics. Here in Reunion islands people do speak in English but the official language is French. While the local language is Creole.
