                                                                                 SATPARA DAM:-                                                                                                              Satpara dam;is a project inagaurated in 2002 and to be completed by december 2010.it is 7 kms away from skardu city and its altitude is 8700 feet.The main source of water is melting ice of deosal planes during summer season.it is multipurpose project which produce would 13 megawatt hydel generation irrigate 15000 acre land and also provide 13 cusecis drinking water daily to skardu city.                                                                                                     KATZARA DAM:katzara dam skardu dam near the skardu town has been projected as the worlds largest dam having a potential of 35 MAF storage capacity and 15000 mw of hydel power.the estimated life is reported as 1000 years.the skardu dam site is located about 33 km upstream of ayub bridge on indus about 16 km down stream of skardu town in baltistan.                                                                                              SMALL DAMS:2010 may righty termed as the year of small dams.The federal government has launched construction of 12 small multi purpose dams this year for uplifting its agro based economy small dam are being developed for the purposes of irrigatin hydroelectric generation drinking water supply fisheries developedment etc.Winder dam in lasbela baluchistan and darawat dam in jamshoro sindh were inaurated in january this year 12 small dams are to be constructed in baluchistan sindh punjab and the NWFP at an estimated cost if $1 billion and are to be completed by 2014 other dams include hingol naulong pelar and garuk dams in baluchistan nai gaj sita dams in sindh ghabir and papin dams in punjb darban dam inn nwfp and bara dam in khyber agency FATA.the gross storage capcity of these dams will be 2.56 maf would be constructed in the second phase.                                                                                                                                                                                              RENTAL POWER PLANTS:                           in august 2009 the federal cabinet approved 2250 megawatt rental poer projects.The rental power projects have been delayed which are now likely to be completed in june 2010.The rental power plants would significantly enhance the cost of production which will make survival of the industry more difficult and create more problems for the fragile economy.                                                                                          To be contunied and NEXT BLOGS:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
