Social Media For Business - The Social Network

Posted on at

I promised more about social media and movies on my last post. So let's start today!

I joined Film Annex a couple of months ago and have never stopped using social networks since then. I have already had my profile on Facebook and Twitter and was using them on a daily basis. But social networking on a professional level is much different. How to make people want to read your posts and tweets? To be relevant is the key. Of course what you have to say must be interesting, useful to your readers. If you are the first one to talk about a new topic or an exclusive event, you will be noticed. Post funny-but-smart and well-written tweets and your followers will be faithful. Easy to say, right? I try to keep that in mind every time I post or tweet for Film Annex. As most of our "fans" and "followers" are either connected to or interesting in the film industry, I always wonder: "What do they want to know? What would be useful to their career or projects? What will catch their attention?"

Moving on to the "movie" part of my post, I wanted to talk about The Social Network. I am not the first one to do so, and certainly won't be the last. I remember very well when a group was created on Facebook about it when the movie was still an ongoing project. What caught my attention was the name of the screenwriter and the Man behind the Idea: Aaron Sorkin. Brilliant is the word I would use to describe Sorkin's work. I could go on and on about some of his contributions to the TV world (Sports Night, The West Wing, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip) but this won't be for today. Today's post is for me to tell you what makes me want to see The Social Network: I am doing social media for a film distribution platform so not seeing it would be kind of unprofessional don't you think? A movie by Aaron Sorkin and David Fincher simply can't be bad. And, what can I say, I want to be part of the whole buzz about it! And how should I be able to tweet about it if I don't see it! What are your reasons?

So I'll be back soon, with my personal insights about it. Until then, I suggest you go watch it and tell me what you think!
