Since few years, people have believed that sports broadcasting have been into existence from a long time, however, the fact is that it has just been 100 years since when the sports broadcasting started happening. Today, sports broadcasting are getting an upper hand during the games because the broadcasters are some of the renowned athletes of yesteryears and they have helped in changing the overview of the game for the onlookers and even for those who enjoy watching the games over their television sets.

The origin of sports broadcasting

The initial broadcasting obviously started over the radio in the 1920s as the advent of television was still on the back foot. It was because of radio sports broadcasting that people from different communities came together and enjoyed a game. The first ever sports broadcasting was done for a boxing match between Dempsey Jack and Miske Billy. Following the sports broadcast for the boxing match, the next broadcasting was done for a football game between College of Texas and Texas University.

The world of sports broadcasting saw the first major broadcasting over the radio in the year 1921 for a league baseball match and even for the World Series. In addition to this, the broadcasting of Davis Cup was even held over the radio.

The development of television

It was after two decades that television made a wonderful mark in the field of sports broadcasting. It was in the year 1939 the baseball game between Princeton and Colombia was broadcasted. The national league of football and baseball followed suit.

It was in the year 1970 when ESPN changed the complete scenario of sports broadcasting. It made a mark by broadcasting games over their channel on the 24-hour basis. Today, ESPN is considered one of the finest and the biggest channel where sports broadcasting are at its peak.
