What is a Supermoon?

The moon travels around the earth in an elliptical orbit.; one side of it is about 30,000 miles closer to Earth than the other side.

According to NASA, when the Earth, Moon and Sun comes up in a straight line as the Moon orbits the Earth, and when  the earth is at the center of the Moon and the Sun, then there will be a supermoon.

Before the end of this year, there will be two more occurrences of Supermoon. They will be on Nov. 14 and Dec. 14.

Nov. 14’s supermoon will be the closest full moon to Earth in this century. The full moon won’t come this close to our planet until 2034, according to NASA.

Dec. 14’s supermoon will obscure the views of the impressive Geminid meteor shower, according to NASA.

If you have a chance, catch a glimpse of these beautiful Supermoon.
