The kalash people at Chitral; Pakistan (part 2)

As like I shared my information about kalash people of chitral in my previous blog so here I am going to write the rest part of my article. I hope the entire Film annex member will get information about it. Today kalash people are very famous because their very unique and identify culture. These people attract many tourist internationally and domestically because their specialty and beauty. The valleys where they are living are as beautiful as like the kalash.

These small groups of community are living in three valley of Chitral Pakistan, Bumburat, Rumbur and Balanguru.  These three valleys are as beautiful and attractive as like the kalash people.  As they keep very weird culture, I’ll start their culture from the birth to death. What are their trust, believe and tradition? 

When the lady is pregnant than the kalash people don’t like to eat food and shaking hand  from that lady; they feel it is sin or when the lady is near to give birth they kalash people keep that lady in a separate place called (Bashalenii )  until and unless she will get recover properly. If anyone shakes hand with the pregnant lady then it’s the obligation for that person to take bath.  When she will get to home then it’s the traditional responsibility to her husband to make something for her to eat. It’s quite strange and quite interesting too.

They have two traditional or religious festivals that are so distinctive and noticeable.  Chilmjust is one of the biggest festivals; it can be held during 13 may to 15 may. Chilimjust mens in chitrali is bahar. During chilimjust there are marriage arrangements of the adults. The boy who is ready to merry with anyone, he wears  traditional cap called (khapol) having feather in grab. The girl who is ready to merry with anyone she wears dopata in traditional way or wear walnut leaf over the head.  This style shows that they are ready to merry today. They girls dance in this three day while keeping arms each other’s shoulders. After few days the boy who married takes almost 12 matka to girls home to her parents. There is not any restriction in marriage life, they do merry to whom they want to do. In other days they can merry as like between in us many adults are doing code marriage or getting marriage without parents’ permission they suppose other days marriage illegal, but this day is special so almost everyone is waiting for this days. This is the day of marriage you can say.

Chitarmast is the other festival, during the end of September and starting of October. In this day the all relatives and kinship come together and take off grapes from tress. They eat some of the grapes and some of them use for wine.  In this day they take bread and grapes to their relative’s home to show their sympathy.

In the time of death, all the people come together in one big hall and they don’t feel desperate and cry after the death person.  They all do praise of the death person and the person who praises much got award.  The people play doll, sing song and dance around the corpse. They play three days and the one who praise very graceful than all make huge voice and clap a lot for that words. After three days of the death person, then they take him in a graveyard side but they don’t buried or either they don’t burn.  They keep the corpse above the land and keep all personal stuff of the death person with the corpse. They suppose it is useful for the death person.
