The railbus is pulling in, please mind the gap

Is it weird to have buses that operate on tracks?

Well, a railway for buses in UK has emerged connecting Cambridge, Hutington and St Ives.

This bus railway, or a guided busway, is aimed at easing traffic and allowing much more room for cars on the road.

It’s reported that a bus on the track can reach about 56 mph and improve the efficiency of public transportation. To ensure safety, each bus operating on the track is equipped with an extra set of small wheels to help keep it stable.

The line was opened in August, 2011, and a total of 2,500,000 trips were made, but it was not the first guided busway in existence. The first was actually constructed in 1984.
