Biography

Born In Adelaide, Australia, Alex Nakone is of Ukrainian Descent. Alex grew up with a passion for the arts, but like many Eastern European migrants settled in Australia, there were great expectations for Alex to become a medical practitioner, which he did. Alex Nakone’s first narrative film Biotech 8, a black comedy about genetically engineered workforces, made in 2008, gained worldwide Distribution by Canadian distributor, Quat Media and was sold to a channel displaying short films, Movieola. This film combined his knowledge of medical science with his developing skill for visual storytelling. In 2009 he embarked on an ambitious short film project about human cloning. His film Mr Morag’s Helical Dreams later went on to be the featured film on the New York based website, Film Annex in late October 2010 attracting over one million views.
Alex has been creating online content through a successful collaboration with a musician called VTVrider. He initially approached film making by working closely with a musician and fellow doctor, John C Williams. It is often through sound and music that his film making is inspired. Characters and plots come alive from the musical compositions and the sounds become central to the film-making. He also is inspired by the visual arts and strives to compose pictures in his films with a painter's eye. He engages in all aspects of the film making from writing, directing , editing and special effects. It is through the special effects that he brings to life his aspiration to make his " paintings " move. Alex resides in Adelaide, Australia.
