Audiobook becomes one of my favorite options to tackle one of an avid readers struggles – too little time but too many books to read. Although it could help you to finished read more books faster compare to reading the physical one – because you literally can read a book anytime and anywhere. However, some reader tends to avoid the audiobook because it’s hard for them to concentrate on the story. I am not a strong auditory person, but I find these 4 activities really help me enjoy the book without getting distracted. So, to help my fellow reader who interested to try the audiobook, here are the things you can do while listening to an audiobook.

Based on Wikipedia, an audiobook (or talking book) is a recording of a text being read. A reading of the complete text is noted as "unabridged", while readings of a reduced version, or abridgement of the text are labeled as "abridged".

One: Coloring

This is my first to go options. Since last year, I am invested in coloring for an adult. Coloring required times and patience – which are two departments that I am not good at. But with an audiobook, I can do two of my favorite hobbies at one time. Also when I am coloring, it helps to concentrate on the story that I currently listening. One of my best experiences was when I listen to the Waking Gods (Themis Files, #2) by Sylvain Neuvel. I was listening to it while coloring one of  Lizzie Mary Cullen's adult coloring book - The Magical City. I finished the book and a full page of a coloring book in one sitting!

This one may sound dull, but it’s effective for me. I am not a big fan of cleaning. Its bore me to death and I tend to give an excuse to delay doing it. Actually, this one what makes me get addicted to the audiobook. One time, I need to decorate my room and since it will take longer than just cleaning, I pick up one audiobookCinder (The Lunar Chronicle #1) by Marrisa Meyer. Surprisingly, I was completely lost in time and felt cleaning my room was faster than usual. Since then, audiobook always ready as my “cleaning-time” playlist.

Three: Reading the book

Although you already listening to the book doesn’t mean you can read it. Yup. I am reading the book – mostly the ebook while listening to it. I usually did it when I am preparing to sleep. Kindle is my favorite apps for this one. It has a special feature that allows us to seemingly our ebook and audiobook. So, when you listening to the audiobook, it will automatically flip through the ebook pages, so you can follow what narrator said. I used this feature for the first time when I was listening to Samantha Watkins: Chronicles of an Extraordinary Ordinary Life by Aurelie Venem

I might look like a granny, but I do love cross stitching. So if you have any crafting hobbies like cross stitching, sewing, knitting, or maybe scrapbooking, listening to an audiobook might help make your crafting time more enjoyable.

Not just allow me to read a book, what I love the most of audiobook is it allow me to multitask. Of course, it won’t be favorable to combine listening to an audiobook with something that required full concentrations like when you are doing some homework or prepare office presentation. But, it could help to make you kill the boredom of routine activities like cleaning or washing dishes. Also, you could make activities that you loved more enjoyable like when you do one of your hobbies.

So, if you already try the audiobook, what is your favorite things to do while listening to it?
