7 TIPS HOW TO RELAX AFTER A STRESSFUL DAY

Posted on at

Especially in the last couple of weeks, I realized that it is so important to take some time for yourself and switch off for a couple of hours. With the move to berlin, new challenges in the Job and all the other things a move in a new city brings with it, it was (and still is) quite exciting and overwhelming. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job, I love meeting new people and working on new creative projects, but sometimes you just have to stop for a moment, take a deep breath and take care of yourself. Today I want to share 7 tips how to relax after a stressful day and I hope they help you as much as they helped me in the recent weeks. Enjoy!

TAKE A HOT LAVENDER BATH

Seriously, is there anything better than jumping in a hot bath after a stressful day? I don’t think so. I prefer to use lavender bath salt or oil. The scent of lavender is very relaxing and promotes stress reduction. If you like to do a natural bath on your own, you can just mix 100g of lavender flowers with 2 liters of hot water and give it in your bath. I do this once a month and I can sleep like a baby after that!

TAKE ON A BEAUTY MASK

When I’m stressed out, my skin is, too. The result is dry skin and red patches on my face. To reduce stress and care for my skin, I like to apply moisturizing masks on my face. I let them on for about 30 minutes and then wash my face with warm water. You can buy those masks in every drugstore or simply do it yourself (here I have a few recipes for you)

LIGHT UP A CANDLE

Especially at this time of the year, I like to light up some candles in the evening. I find it super cozy and homely and I think it really has a relaxing effect on me, especially if it’s a scented candle. You can combine this with a hot bath so you have a little spa experience at home.

TREAT YOURSELF WITH HEALTHY SNACKS

Who doesn’t know that feeling; If you’re stressed out, you often feel like something sweet. But instead of eating all this unhealthy and toxic stuff, why not snack some natural, healthy DIY-Snacks? I swear they are super delicious and easy to make. Here you can find my favorite 3 healthy snacks. One of my favorite sweet treats are these delicious chocolate pralines (find the recipe here). They are the perfect reward after a stressful day.

MEDITATE

It might sound boring or too complicated at first glance, but it’s not. I came across a meditation app by accident and tried it. The app is especially for beginners and I find it very useful. There are several meditation- and breathing exercises that really do well on me and help you to shut down for a few minutes and focus on positive things again. Most exercises are only 7 minutes and you don’t even need any accessories for this. (find the best meditation apps here)

READ A BOOK

Something we forget too often: reading offline! Reading a book or even a magazine can be so relaxing. To hold a real book in your hands is so much nicer than reading on your Tablet, Laptop or Smartphone. I ordered this book a few days ago and made up my mind to take more time for reading before going to sleep. So much better than watching YouTube Videos or Snapchat Stories!

DISCONNECT MORE OFTEN

Especially as a blogger, I find it particularly difficult to switch off all my devices from time to time. But it seriously feels sooo good. Last week, for example, we went for a beautiful autumn walk and I forgot my phone at home. First I was totally annoyed since I wanted to take some pictures to post on my Instagram. In the end, I was pretty happy that I left my phone at home. I had the chance to enjoy the moment without being distracted by something else and without the pressure to check my social media profiles, blog or emails. I will definitely leave my phone at home more often.

I hope you liked these tips on how to relax after a stressful day and maybe try them next time! Enjoy your day.
