COLORS PRISON-WOMEN AND FASHSION IN AFGHANISTAN

Posted on at

In my country, Afghanistan mostly people don’t care about their clothes label as much as in other places in the world people care. The famous clothes fashion labels like Gucci and D&G are almost unknown here. You can see rarely the people who pay attention to this issue and buy the brand productions.

Of course there is a totally logical reason for why most afghan people are not looking for brand productions. The high cost of brand productions and the bad economic situation that people have is the reason they don’t even think about it.

There are people in my country whom  because of the bad economic situation  just wish to have some clothes to wear and of course in this circumstance thinking about brands look weird. This is absolutely understandable why people in Afghanistan are not willing to spend lots of money for their clothes but as an afghan woman this is not understandable why we limit ourselves in buying colorful clothes too.

Here people are used to select dark colors for what they wear, specially women. Wearing light color clothes by women is somehow strange in the society. While colors have positive affects on our morals and mentality.

I have not seen here any old woman whom wears a pink dress for example. Even if they like to do so,  they are afraid of being not accepted by the people around them. Even young girls have the same problem.

Here selecting colors for your dress is significantly dependent to your age rather than your choice or style. indeed more important thing is the way people around you think about it.

I don’t know if it is one of our old and traditional cultures or it is dependent to the long war duration and the chronic depression that caused people to be disappointed and not try to be happy.

In my eyes it seems that colors are also prisoner in our cultural and traditional prison.

By the way I think besides all the limitations we have suffered, it is not a good idea to limit our selves about colors too. We should prefer our own favorite color and style without caring about others choices.

We always are complaining about limitations that are caused by our culture, religion and mostly our family restrictions but perhaps this is the time to look to the issues from different aspect and think maybe sometimes that the only reason for most of our limitations and the fences we create around our life is our own wrong thinking about normal issues in the life.

So as a suggestion “take the life easier and do whatever you want. Because it is too short and you don’t have enough time to spend on what others think about you and accomplish their desires.”
