Daniela Hantuchova : The long legs from Slovakia !

I'm writing this blog on my favorite female tennis player, Daniela Hantuchova.Lets start the blog:

DANIELA HANTUCHOVA

Daniela Hantuchova is a professional tennis player from Slovakia.She is 32 years old and is currently ranked as world number 83 in singles.She is a former world number 5.She has won 7 singles career titles so far in her career.She is being coached by Carlos Rodriguez since December 2014 who has coached the former world number 1, Justine Henin and the former world number 2, Li Na.

Hantuchova is also regarded as one of the most hard working tennis player on the tour.She is famous for her 'long legs' in tennis which are 110 cm long and that's why she has been nicknamed 'The long legs from Slovakia'.She can cover a long distance in a short amount of time, due to her long legs which helps her in returning the shots.

 

 

 

TENNIS CAREER

Daniela Hantuchova is currently ranked as the world number 83 in singles.She has been ranked as high as world number 5 in singles.She has won 7 singles career titles.She has a career record of 537-372 with a winning percentage of 59.08%.She turned pro in 1999 when she was only 16 years old.She reached her highest career ranking of world number 5 in 2003.

2002 is regarded as her breakthrough year as she won her first WTA title that year in March at the Indian Wells which is considered to be a very prestigious event.She also became the lowest ranked player ever to win the Indian Wells(tournament).She defeated the former world number 1 Martina Hingis in the final.

Later that year, she also reached her first ever Grand Slam quarter final at the Wimbledon.Not only Wimbledon, she also reached the quarter final of the US Open as well.

Daniela Hantuchova is also considered as the most inconsistent player on the tour.She has been dubbed as the 'Queen of 3-setters' as she has played 263 three set matches in her career and won 181 matches out of them.She has played the most three set matches, more than anyone else on the tour.

 

 

YEAR 2015 

Daniela Hantuchova had a very poor season of 2015.Her win-loss record was 15-20.Though she won a title at the Pattaya Open in February.Her performance in the Grand Slams was also very poor.She lost in the first round of the French and US Open and she lost in the second round of the Australian Open and Wimbledon.She started the year ranked as the world number 61 but she finished 2015 ranked 81 in the world.

AUSTRALIAN OPEN

 

Among all the Grand Slams, Daniela Hantuchova has been most successful on the tennis courts of Melbourne as her highest Grand Slam run, which is reaching the semi final of a Grand Slam has come over here.She reached the semi final of the 2008 Australian Open.She had an epic semi final against the former world number 1, Ana Ivanovic which she lost in three nail-biting sets.Let's have a look at their semi final:

FRENCH OPEN

Hantuchova has been the least successful on the clay courts throughout her career as she is yet to win a title on a clay court.As the French Open is also played on the clay courts so Hantuchova hasn't been successful at the French Open either.French Open is also the Grand Slam where she has had the least success among all the Grand Slams.Her best performance at the French Open is reaching the 4th round at four occasions.She hasn't been able to go past the fourth round in her career at the French Open, but at 2011 French Open she defeated the reigning world number 1 at that time, Caroline Wozniacki in the third round of the French Open in two straight sets and this was the first and the only time Hantuchova has defeated a 'reigning' world number 1 in her career so far.Let's have a look at their 3rd round matchup:

WIMBLEDON

Daniela Hantuchova is a one time Wimbledon quarter finalist.She reached the quarter final of the Wimbledon back in 2002 almost 13 years ago.After 2002 she did not get past the 4th round.From 2012-2014 she got out in the first round for three consecutive years.This year(2015) she lost in the second round to the British, Heather Watson.She played her 15th straight Wimbledon this year.Let's have a look at some of her matches at the Wimbledon:

 

 

 

US OPEN

Daniela Hantuchova is a two time US Open quarter finalist.She reached her first US Open quarter final in 2002 and then after 11 years in 2013 she reached the US Open quarter final for the second time in her career.After the Australian Open, US Open is the Grand Slam where she has gone past the 4th round twice in her career.She lost the 2013 quarter final to the former world number 1, Victoria Azarenka.Let's have a look at their quarter final matchup:
