Islamabad- Pakistan celebrates Pakistan Day today.

The day started with gun salutes Islamabad. The national flag was hoisted on major government buildings.
A change of guard ceremony was held at the tomb of national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal this morning and a contingent of Pakistan Air Force assumed the guard duties.
The conventional military parade is the hallmark of the celebrations this morning. This parade is being held after a gap of seven years at the newly constructed Parade Ground near Faizabad Interchange.
An inauguration ceremony will be held at Aiwan-e-Sadr this afternoon at which President Mamnoon Hussain will confer awards and medals on personalities for their outstanding performance in different fields. Inauguration ceremonies will also be held in the provincial capitals to confer awards and medals.
