Introduction

Smuggling means illegal import and export of goods without the permission of government and without paying customs duties. Smuggling is synonymous as illegal trade. It is an illegal method of conducting business. It is a very serious crime. It harms not only one or two persons but harms the welfare of whole nation.

Causes

The main causes of smuggling are

1-   Greed of wealth

2-   Ignorance

3-   Lack of nationalism

Problems

The main problems which are associated with smuggling are

1-   Loss of revenues

2-   Distortion of market prices

3-   Collapse of local industry

4-   Unemployment

Types of smuggling

Smuggling is a fact in the societies and is spread in all over the world. Smuggling is of many types. The main types of smuggling are describe below

Goods smuggling

The import or export of goods without the permission of government and without paying customs duties is called goods smugglings. Goods smugglings include smuggling of drugs, smuggling of weapons, smuggling of alcohol and tobacco, smuggling of expensive stones, and smuggling of precious metals etc

People smuggling

People smuggling is also called human smuggling.  It is the transportation or illegal entry of person or persons across the international border. It is also called migration smuggling.

Wildlife smuggling

Wildlife smuggling involves the transportation of animals. This can be done internationally or domestically. Products demanded include exotic pets, foods, medicine, clothing, and jeweler, made from animal trunks, fins, skins, shells, horns, and internal organs.

How can be smuggling controls?

 

Smuggling can be stopped only if very strict laws are made and they are enforced without fear or favor.
