Customs officials recovered around 14kg gold worth Tk 7 crore from a Biman Bangladesh flight at Hajrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday.

Dhaka Customs House joint commissioner Kazi Mohammad Zia Uddin told Prothom Alo the gold was recovered from a cargo hold of a Biman flight coming from Dubai. The gold bars were hidden in a stitched black bag, he added.

The drive, jointly conducted by Customs Department and Customs Intelligence Directorate, is still going on as the officials feel more gold might be found in the cargo hold.

The authorities were counting the bars when this report was being filed.
