5 Harmful Insects to Plants

Harmful insects cause extreme damage, even destruction to every type of agriculture crop requiring an increase in time and money in order to control the problem.

1) Beetle

A beetle has six thin legs, an oval or round body shape, two antennas, and is typically no bigger than 3 inches long. Many types of beetles destroy trees by digging holes and tunnels through the wood in order to hide and lay eggs.

2) Caterpillar

A Caterpillar is long, thin, and round with numerous tiny stump-looking legs, which are sticky on the bottom. This pest eats any type of plant leaf at a rapid pace.

3) Fly

A fly is very small, typically less than an inch long, with 6 legs, an oval body shape, and 2 transparent wings. This insect swarms around fruit trees causing extensive destruction to the fruit that they partially consume.

4) Grasshopper

A grasshopper is long and thin with 4 short thin front legs and 2 extremely long thin hind legs. A grasshopper is a dangerous insect to plants, often found in swarms consuming every part of a plant.

5) Weevil

A weevil is under a 1/2 inch long, with 6 legs, 2 antennas, and a long snout located between the antennas. This tiny insect remains unseen to the naked eye as it destroys plants using its long snout to dig into and consume the soft inside of any type of grain, fruit, or nut crop.
