A day in Banjara Hills

Posted on at

So thankful something prompted me to visit the Voice office in Lakdikapul last Thursday. I met their newest intern who happens to be a fellow New Yorker not only that but from lower Westchester County. I don't know what to say except that we clicked. So after returning from the Talupula visit I planned out a day to show her around. Thanks to lack of internet once I leave the house and travel time, I did not see her messages that she isn't feeling well. I showed up around noon at her place and we made new plans to hang out in Banjara Hills. Charminar and Birla Mandir Temple will happen another time. So first plan of action was lunch which led us to GVK mall. I've been to GVK before but never spent much time there. Actually my first time there I spent 3 hours in the food court but never explored the mall. We grabbed lunch well truly we grabbed snacks. Then we set off to explore the mall and lok for some Indian attire for her to wear to the office. Success was found at Shopper's stop. Now I wish I bought the cute rose dangling earrings I saw but maybe next time.

We ended up watching the Prince. It was a good action packed movie but we missed the beginning because we didn't plan to watch a movie. It pays to be flexible and think on your toes. As we left GVK mall we decided to check the movie times. The only Indian movie that was also being shown in English was sold out so we settled for the Prince which had already started. So went back through bag check and headed to the theaters. We discovered that just like in NY outside food and drinks aren't allowed so we had to check our water bottles. In the states it is possible to sneak in your own food and drinks. Turns out seats are assigned when you purchased tickets. We ended in the correct row but wrong seats. The theater wasn't full so I figured it didn't matter. First time going to the movies and there being an intermission. We checked out the concession stand were just like the USA prices were inflated. INR 10 samosas were INR 70 and INR 100 for fries and corn. Well needless to say I settled my samosa craving later in Begumpet.

Long day turned into long bus ride home and trying to flag down an auto in Chandanagar was an epic fail. So thankful I didn't walk because the area was deserted or at least PJR Enclave that leads to Aparna. A kind sir graciously gave me a ride to Aparna. (warning I do not recommend this)
