Abel Tasman National Park

This park was founded in 1942 and is situated in New Zealand. It is one of the smallest parks in the country with forests and hilly country. It also consists of few small islands. Some favorite sports in the park is kayaking and camping.

The Abel Tasman Coast Track, South Island is a popular walking destination. It stretches for about 55 km. It is located on the northern shores of South Island. An average walker should take about 4 days top complete the entire track. Adequate bridges are built across streams. However, in case of crossings, which are impacted by tides, a person may have to wait for a few hours for low tide to occur.

No fees are charged to walk during the day. One may choose to stay at one of the many campsites set up around. A nominal fee is usually charged. One may make use of the water taxis to reach some far flung beaches or take the kayak trail. Cleanliness is of utmost importance within the park.

Everyone who visits the track is expected to carry bags to pack the garbage generated by them so that they can be safely carried outside at the end of the walk.
