The Commission on Higher Education and the Department of Education stated last year that a shift in the academic calendar is not really necessary due to some reasons that are socio-cultural nature. Another negation from the Department of Education stated that they do not agree with the shift because schools should also have to consider the extremely high temperatures and long holidays of the summer. But before anything else, the proposal to shift the academic calendar arose to align the academic calendar here in the Philippines to the academic calendars of the schools abroad.
