Can one sacrifice his own life for a prophets sake?
To safeguard ones life is the best obligation for all muslims, but to give your life for the sake of a prophet is a bigger obligation. eg, when hazrat Ali slept in our beloved prophets bed on the night of hijrah, knowing that the kafirs may kill him any time. Another example is when our Prophets companion, Abubakar Siddique رضي الله عنه , closed a hole in the cave with his finger and a poisonous snake kept on bitting him and he did not move so as not to disturb the prophets sleep as he was sleeping with his head on the companions lap..
