Animation Feast! - Film Annex News

Well, hello everybody! We are super excited to announce our new iPhone application, The Film Annex Piggy Bank. With your Piggy Bank, you can check the revenues generated on your Web TV channel with the click of a button! The Piggy Bank projects the real-time estimates of your revenues, so every time you check the amount, it will show you the latest sum total. Here at Film Annex, our mission is to present some of the best independent filmmakers to the world. Through our Web TV Network and revenue share system, we are able to financially support these filmmakers by featuring them on our homepage. This week, our featured Web TV is one by Chilean filmmaker, Ignacio Ruiz Alvarez. We were drawn to Alvarez' animations because of their originality, quirkiness, and creativity. A whiff of Tim Burton and a tinge of Spike Jonze can be found in Alvarez's short films, which involve stop-motion animation, celluloid drawings, and other "weird stuff." By the end of this week, with the revenues Alvarez generates on his Web TV, he'll have the means to finance a new project! Our featured filmmaker is yet another highly-talented animation artist/filmmaker, Tomas Mankovsky, whose film Little Big Love we featured awhile back. Mankovsky has a design degree from Beckmans College of Design and won an armful of awards with the ads he worked on for clients like Sony and Orange. Note that Mankovsky is not just a designer and a filmmaker, but also an inventor! In addition to writing film scripts and launching a range of Tetris-shaped bathroom tiles, he most recently created a domino that generates sound. So if you're addicted to animation, it's obviously your lucky day. Enjoy another eye-catching animation, ARK 2007 by Grzegorz Jonkajtys. Take a journey with the only survivor of a virus epidemic that almost ended the human population. Seems like a scary thought, especially with so much talk about the end of the world lately. Ironically, this film is not the typical 'end of the world movie' that has a predictable finale. It is a sci-fi animation that wins you over with great visual effects, a likable character and an unexpected ending; a total twist. That's it for now folks. Enjoy this week's content and keep supporting some of the best filmmakers out there by tuning into our platform.
