Basant festival of 2014 in Lahore (part 1)

Posted on at

Basantis very famous in Pakistan especially in Lahore, it is the culture of Lahore. The peoples of Lahore are crazy about Basant.  This festival is celebrated in spring season. In this festival peoples fly kites. If we see towards history of kite flying we got to know that kite was the invention of the 5th-century BC Chinese philosophers Moz iand Lu Ban.The kite flying is a well-liked custom for the celebration of spring festival known as Jashan-e-Baharan.

In local language kite flying is known as patang bazi. Even at night you can see the kites in the sky. In these days the sky seems to be enjoying the basant.

The different color of kites gives amazing view to the eyes. It seems that thousands of flowers are charming in the sky.

In this festival people enjoys a lot even the older and the younger ones also take part in kite flying. But unfortunately form last few years kite flying is banned by Pakistani Government. Because few years ago after the killing of numerous people due to the use of chemical thread and firing on Basant.

But now in 2014 there is hope or good news for peoples of Lahore because Punjab Government announces that they will allow besant from 21 February to 5th match but now this date has been extended to 14 April.

The festival will be held in the forest area chanaga  manga to avoid any kind of accident or mishap. I am hopeful that it will be a great fun for peoples of Lahore.
