Hazrat Abu Hurairah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu reported that the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him has said;

إذا دخل رمضان فتحت أبواب السماء (وفي رواية) فتحت أبواب الجنة وغلقت أبواب النار وسلسلت الشياطين (وفي رواية) فتحت أبواب الرحمة

When Ramadan begins, the doors of heaven are opened.” A version has, “the doors of Paradise are opened and the doors of Hell are closed, and the Satans are tied with chains.” Another version has, “the doors of Mercy are opened

In another place Hazrat Abu Hurairah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu reported that the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him has said;

Who ever fasting during Ramdan with faith and seeking his reward from Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala, all his past sins will be forgiven. Who ever prays during the night in Ramadan with faith seeking his reward (from Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala) all his past sins will be forgiven. And whoever passes Lailat-ul-Qadr in prayer with faith and seeking his reward (from Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala) all his past sins will be forgiven

This is the month of great opportunity, the opportunity to gain Allah’s

Good  Pleasure  and  Nearness,   for  Allah’s  good  pleasure  is  higher  than  the  material benefits of the world as well as the material pleasures of the hereafter. Allah says in the  Quran:  “Allah  has  promised  to  the  believing  men  and  the  believing  women gardens,  beneath  which  rivers  flow,  to  abide  in  them,  and  goodly  dwellings  in  the gardens of perpetual abode; and the best of all Is Allah’s Good pleasure

O Allah, make my Fast (in this month) like those who fast (sincerely), and make my nightly prayers like those who pray (sincerely.)Awaken me from the sleep of the heedless. Overlook my wrongdoings, O’ God ofthe universe; and Grant me forgiveness

May Allah help us all to make every fast this Ramadan a shield in the Hereafter and an intercessor in the grave. May Allah not make us one of those who do not get anything from their fasts except for hunger and thirst.
