Blogging - What it is and why you should do it!

Posted on at

The word ‘Blogging’ may seem at first a rather ugly, modern word but there is no getting away from the fact that ‘Blogs’ are becoming more and more popular from both a personal and business perspective.

A Blog itself is defined as a website that contains an online personal journey with reflections, comments and often hyperlinks provided by the writer. Blogs can take the format of a kind of personal diary or they can be made more interactive by tools which enable moderated discussions.

This facility is expanding even more now with very quick ways to link to other social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin literally at the click of a button.

If you have a website the chances are you are in some way trying to promote something, whether it is your thoughts on a personal subject that fascinates you, or a service you can provide. Either way, Blogging is recommended.

One key fact to consider though is the infinite time span of your Blog. Your words have the potential to meet a vast audience quickly and they will not expire (unless you make the decision to remove them.) If your words have been chosen with prudence this is another great advantage Blogging has over e-mail notifications that could accidentally end up as spam.

If you are a confident speaker, you may also wish to consider Video Blogging as part of your online marketing strategy or even combine the two skills to have a greater presence. A big advantage of Video Blogging is people can see your facial expressions and can tell if you are sincere about what you are saying. The fact that you are using such a modern form of technology to communicate is in itself impressive.

Either format of Blogging will prove an asset to how influential you are and will definitely enhance your online credentials.
