Branding... ! Any ideas?

Hi All!

So I've been spending quite a lot of time looking into Branding recently. Its something i've looked into in the past, but at the mo its been particularly featured in research i've been doing!

I've been trying to look into particular brands and what works... or doesn't work. How the name, colours, icon, image, website, and adverts all seem to work together to create a brand that really works seamlessly. And its something thats inspiring me in my own work!

I've been looking into 'Pixar' in particular. That familiar blue colour with clouds, that often seem to find its way into their films, the beautiful short films they make, all very different, but something very similar about them all also. And the point in which I realised that it had all worked, was when I looked at a lamp in a cafe, and discovered I was thinking about Pixar and their films... that one incredibly simple Icon, their famous Lamp, had kept them in my mind. Very clever Marketing!

Apple are exactly the same. With such a simple name as 'apple', their clean white, flawless, imaculate image is one that leaves an impact on everyone. And their name means that they are in the fore-front of our minds at least once a day at least! (More... for those who own a mac and an iphone of course)

So how did these guys come up with something so clever? Well... apparently one of them was eating an apple, and gave themselves until 5pm that day to come up with a name, otherwise it was going to be apple! And now its the huge brand we know, and most of us love.

So what makes a brand? And how do brands keep consistent with their image, marketing, imagery, quality of work, and even the little blurb they have on the website? To get it right, I think it takes a ton of dedication and love! And a heck of a lot of talent. But if theres anyone out there who thinks they can point me in the right direction.... get in touch! I'd love to hear from you!

And who are your favourite brands? And who just gets on your nerves? I have included a few pieces of imagery I love! So share what you love also! :)
