Does God Speak to People?

Does God Speak to People?

Now, does God speak to people? Does He relate with natural man, does He speak with mere mortal man? Let the scriptures answer us….

“God, who at sundry times and in diverse

manners spake in time past unto the

fathers by the prophets”

(Hebrew 1:1)

God has been speaking with His creatures right from the beginning of the creation of the world.

“And they (Adam and Eve) heard the voice

of the Lord God … And the Lord God called

unto Adam, and said unto him …. (Genesis 3:8,9).

“Now the Lord had said unto Abram, get thee

out of thy country….”

(Genesis 12:1-3).

It is crystal clear as you go through the Bible, you find out that God spoke clearly and distinctly to people from one generation to the other, and even till now.

God likes to communicate with His creatures in order to tell them what they do not know, warn them against something bad or even direct them in the right path. If God leaves man to himself, man will fall into diverse problems.

Do people truly hear God …? Some heard God whenever He spoke to them.

“God hath spoken once; twice have I heard

this ….” (Psalm 62:11).

The above verse describes the person that is very spiritually sensitive. We still have some of them these days. God speaks once; and they hear Him as if He had spoken twice.

However, there are people that lack spiritual sensitivity. God has been speaking to them for a long time, yet they perceive not, to them God will speak more than once, yet they will still fail to recognize that it is the voice of God.

“For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet

man perceiveth it not” (Job 33:14).

Yet there is another category of people that when they hear God, they find it difficult to discern and understand that it is God that speaks to them. They ascribe His voice to something else.

“…Then came there a voice from heaven,

saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify

it again. The people therefore, that stood by,

and heard it, said that it thundered; others

said, An angel spake to him”

(John 12:28, 29).

Now beloved, it is in order to proffer solution to the above problems that this book in your hand has been written. It is to help my fellow brethren like you and others who want to recognize the voice of the Lord whenever He speaks to them directly or He speaks to them concerning a person, a situation or a circumstance.

Now I will like you to relax and get ready to launch into the ocean of knowledge, which the Holy Spirit wants to take you through. There are many of us, especially young believers to whom God has been speaking but who have never recognized the voice of God, not to talk of obeying it.

As we go through this book from chapter two to the end, I believe, before you finish, your spiritual sensitivity will increase. And you will be able to recognize the voice of God whenever He speaks to you
