This is my childhood game that I ever played. Since I enjoyed a lot raising, training, and feeding my Spider. I considered it as the most exciting Pinoy True Games.
In visayas region the term they used in spider hunting is “Kaka Hunting”. Most of my youngster friends when I was elementary invited me to escort them to hunt spiders.
Hunting spiders are the exciting part because it is done by night actually starts at 7:00pm. Spiders were nocturnal means they are awake at night and asleep at day time. We start to hunt with flashlights and wearing boots to avoid snake bites. Some says spiders that dwells atop of the electric wires were the best warrior for they survive on its predatory place.
After being done hunting spiders we select spiders by matching each of it to fight on a single broom stick. After the fight we select those are fit to fight in kanto the place were fighting spiders match with bets. Before we cast our spiders there we condition it 2 to 3 days before the fight.
Conditioning of spider was enjoyable too because your mind shapes for any idea how to make your spider even stronger. For me I condition my spider by feeding it 3 pieces of spider and let it become “Botchog” or over fed its butt become bigger in appearance. After that it will laid eggs then just feed it a fly it is considered the legendary food that makes your spider unbreakable even its enemy is bigger than it.
The fight. At first you must consider each bets sometimes high stakes range from Php 500 to Php 1,000. After placing bets there will be a judge that watch on the middle of the stick and decide to “ulot” your spiders. The rule is whose spider was first touch the ground 3 times considered the loser or the spider is covered by the web of the enemy also considered as loser.
If you dont have time to hunt spiders there are spider seller that sell spider from Php 30 to Php 100 (Derby Type Spider) that vary from color, breed, and size. Other trainers used what they called energy potion that use to feed their spider. Cobra energy drink was commonly used. Others used formalin, a chemical that used to preserve dead body of person.
There’s a lot of method to train your spider it just depends on your understanding. The way you understand your spider, its behavior, and the way you treated it.
