Earthshine ART Part 2

Posted on at

This is some more artwork from Earthshine.... the first image is a set of the original Backgrounds I did for the film, back when it was going to be a traditional 2D film. I did these backgrounds using pencil crayon, and oil pastels. I love the textures it got. However, when I put them into the story reel and watched some test animation over it, I absolutely despised the look... which is around when I decided to abandon the whole 2D look and went in the direction of doing the film in 3D. I eventually ended up using the BG's for the skies however, so I still was able to keep a little bit of that traditional texture in there. A major lesson, SHOT TESTS are KEY! Do a shot test and find out if what you have in mind is what actually shows up on screen... because if not, you need to do a massive uhaul!
