Film Annex Launches “Nicky’s Film” Sound Design & Remix Contest

Posted on at

NEW YORK, August 12, 2010 – Film Annex recently launched a sound design and remix contest for Abel Ferrara’s 1971 silent movie, Nicky’s Film. The contest invites all filmmakers and sound designers to create new dialog and sound for this short piece, which is acclaimed filmmaker Abel Ferrara’s first film. The submissions will be judged by Abel Ferrara himself, and the winner will meet the director in person.

The participants are first asked to download Nicky’s Film and add their own audio (dialog, music, sound effects, etc.) to it. The contestants can also add new footage to the film and recreate the characters by coming up with an original piece of dialog. Once the remixed video is complete, the contestants will be able to upload their work and choose the “Nicky’s Film Remix Contest” on the upload form.

More information about Nicky’s Film can be found on the contest page. A commentary by Abel Ferrara about the film is also available for viewers who are interested in finding out how the film was shot, who the actors were, and what locations were used. If the contestants have any questions about the film, they can leave a comment on www.nickysfilm.com and the Film Annex team or Abel Ferrara will answer the question.

Good luck to all participants!
