Film Annex News!

Posted on at

Dear Film Annex Community,

Let's start with BIG NEWS. We are proud to present the Film Annex Marketplace – a new tool that will enable you to add new movies to your Web TVs. You will be able to choose from our public domain film catalog and/or present the films you enjoy by Film Annex filmmakers. To do the latter, you'll be required to ask the permission of the filmmaker whose movie you want to show on your Web TV. This means that if you're not a filmmaker and do not produce original content, you can still get a Web TV, curate it, show the films you like, and generate revenues. To read more about how the marketplace works, check out our blog post. More details to come soon.

This week, we also came out with a new Web TV layout! The new layout has a white background, three featured videos on top of the page, a new section that displays the latest blog posts, and an internal search engine! If you have a Film Annex Web TV, visit it now, and you'll see the difference.

Now, let's look at our featured content.

We are very proud to present War Dance Returns, a short sequel to the Oscar-nominated documentary War Dance! The film is produced by the non-profit film production company Shine Global, whose mission is to end the abuse and exploitation of children worldwide through films that raise awareness, promote action, and inspire political change. In the summer of 2008, director Sean Fine, executive producer Susan MacLaury, and the original “War Dance” film crew traveled back to Uganda for the first time since “War Dance” was filmed. Finally, the people of Uganda, were able to watch “War Dance,” the film dedicated to sharing their story with the world. Approximately 7-10 thousand of people came to see the film in the Patongo camp making a lasting impression on the entire crew. “War Dance Returns” aired on the Sundance Channel in May 2009 and has been screened at many film festivals.
