Finding the Fingerprints:
This method is called to find fingerprints fuming. This works on many surfaces where powder fingerprints do not work so well. With this method, chemical vapours react with organic material (amino acids, etc.) in fingerprints to cause the prints appear.
What We Need:
- Microscope slide or small smooth object
- Small airtight jar
- Piece of aluminium foil
- Superglue
- Cup or bowl of hot water
What You Do:
- Touch the slide for leaving your figure print on it.
- Place the aluminium foil in the bottom of container. Now put 3 to 4 drops of glue on the canter of aluminium foil.
- Now place this foil in the bottom of this container and be careful don’t let it touch glue with container. And cover the lid on it tightly..
- Put container in hot water bowl. Heat will cause the glue to give off fumes very quickly.
- After 15 to 20 minutes check the print on the slide. Now place the black paper below the slide and now prints can be seen clearly.
What Happened Actually:
These chemical fumes reacts with sweat and other organic residue left in fingerprints.
Strong fumes of cyanoacrylate in the glue react with the finger residue or sweat .residue turns white by reaction. And you can see it.
