First days with SankalpTaru Foundation

Posted on at

Sorry no pictures with this post. So Monday and Tuesday were my orientation days with Apurva, Priyanka and Soumya. Orientation took place at my apartment which is a first for me. I was given an overview of SankalpTaru's work. It breaks down into corporate partnerships to plant trees, government school programs where the students take responsibility for taking care of the trees planted and individuals planting trees in a virtual forest. They are rolling out a new initiative called kitchen gardens and I have been made the anchor of this initiative. I am working on designing the website, developing content with Soumya which all must be ready by July 20. I have created mock pages in publisher and have been given some great feedback that I am on the right track from Apurva. I will hopefully get an ecode so that I can plant a tree at one of the 5 project sites. I may get to visit the different project sites with no cost to after covering my food expenses. After kitchen garden is launched I will be working on fundraising and marketing initiatives. I have been introduced to the team who works remotely from across India to the US. I have an official company email now but like always I have forwarded it to my Gmail account. I don't like having to check multiple email accounts. Working from home isn't so bad since I start and end when I want as long as I get the work done. Now I'm working on IDEX assignments that are due on Friday. I've submitted one and am quite stuck on goals assignment. I am not one really to set goals especially on long term basis. Looks like I may need to change my return date due to visa expiring before program ends. So excited to return to Bangalore next month to visit Tbirds.
