Nail polish, the widely used beauty product by millions of people all around the world, can cause serious health issues? Yes, that is true. Nail polish can actually cause many health issues for everyone who uses or inhales that scent. Nail polish contains a chemical known as toluene and if you inhale that chemical, it causes so many different health problems.
First of all, toluene causes brain damage and that is one of the biggest issues that nail polish can cause. Toluene kills brain cells if you inhale too much. Toluene is also used in paints for paint walls and cars. That is why when those are being done, people wear masks. However, people just do not associate nail polish with that because they think that it is not harmful and it looks amazing. But it is the same as that and a mask would a good thing to consider if you do nail polish on a regular basis.
Bad for Pregnant Women
If you are pregnant, you definitely should not be using any type of chemical nail polish. You can listen or you cannot, but that can cause damage to both you and your baby. It can actually cause deficiencies and diseases to your baby and that it would not be grown up as a normal person. There could be an issue with him/her. Therefore, it is crucial that pregnant women do not inhale any type of nail polish.
There are nail polishes without toluene but it contains other chemicals so that it stays on your nails for a period of time. And these chemicals are just as bad as toluene or a bit less.
In addition, acetone, otherwise known as nail polish remover is actually more harmful than nail polish itself. Knowing how bad nail polish can be, you can just imagine how horrible nail polish remover can be for your health.
All in all, if you are able to avoid using nail polish, then I would recommend you to do so. The health effects that nail polish can cause are over a period of time. You may not be able to see them now, but after a few years, you will regret what you did and there is not turning back then. You are only able to change your future now. Once you get there, you are not able to change the past. So think wisely.
