Hair and their care & History

How we look on the outside can often determine how we feel on the inside. As hair stylists we see first hand, the difference a good hair style will make to someones confidence.

The same is true of clothing, make-up, accessories and the fragrances we wear; all these things can make a difference to the way we feel on a daily basis.

Not only does our appearance affect us, it can also tell other people a lot about us.

We are a living mirror of our personal taste and personality, and how we present ourselves visually will affect the way people respond to us, it’s human nature. So whilst what we speak of may be saying one thing, our appearance may be saying another.

Don’t feel guilty about investing time and money in looking and feeling good, it can improve your happiness.

The Appearance of your hair – What is says about us

Your effort and ability to make the most of your appearance can be either positive or negative in the way that we portray ourselves to others. As with everything our hair is a reflection of how we look after and care for it.

Our hair is often overlooked or mis-managed, but when it comes to attractiveness; hair can be one of the most important features of a person’s appearance. It can change the appearance of our face, eyes and head and it is one of first things people notice about you.

Your hair is saying something about you – Do you like what it is saying?

Getting it right

At The View we look at hair as the: “item of clothing that you never take off”. So, imagine having to choose a item of clothing that you had to wear every day and night for the next six months, I think anyone would put a lot of care and thought in choosing the item and invest in maintaining the item of clothing so it looked its best at all times.

It is because of this that we invest time in your hair. We take the time to make sure you walk out of the salon with a hairstyle that will not only suit your lifestyle and personality, but will make sure your hair says about you what you really want it to say.

Maintaining your Style

Hair grows at approximately half an inch a month. The average person loses approximately 100 hairs per day. Whilst some hairs are growing some rest, this is why your regular cut is so important.

Little glands just below the surface of the scalp send out natural oils along the hair shaft to help protect it. The condition of the hair can depend on its moisture content and the strength of the hair’s structure. This is why we use and recommend special high quality, scientifically formulated products on the hair.

Another thing you may not know is that the hair is not actively living, it’s actually like your nails; it is dead, so if damaged it cannot repair itself, it just grows. There are ways of repairing hair and improving its condition but it is not easy and requires the right care. That’s why we feel prevention is always better than cure.

Your Stylist will recommend the amount of time they feel it will take before you need to visit the salon again. You will also leave the salon with full knowledge of how to manage and maintain your hair, using the right products and equipment personally recommended by your stylist
