Honduras Reinstated into Organization of American States by Ambassador mo,

Days after exiled ex-President Jose Manuel Zelaya returned to Honduras, the country was welcomed back to the OAS. If you will recall a couple of years earlier, for a brief few intense days, the drama between then President Zelaya and those who ousted him played out at the United Nations. (Photos Above) Secretary General Ban Ki-mmon and most of the UN membership condemned the ouster, 7 months before then President Zelaya was ousted and before it was speculated he was orchestrating constitutional changes to allow him to extend his term (purportedly the reasons for his ouster). This week, the Secretary General welcomed Honduras’ return to the OAS and into good standing with the United Nations. The UN Secretary General’s Statement: “The Secretary-General welcomes the resolution adopted today by the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) reinstating Honduras into the regional organization. He welcomes the efforts of the Member States that helped find a solution. In particular, those of the Governments of Colombia and Venezuela which facilitated the Cartagena Agreement on “national reconciliation and consolidation of the democratic system in Honduras.” The Secretary-General is hopeful that today''s developments at the OAS and the upcoming report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission will contribute to healing the wounds of the recent past and to bringing the people of Honduras together once again. “ Related Reports on Latin America at “Venezuela TV” Channel - diplomaticallyincorrect.org/c/venezuela By Ambassador Muhamed Sacirbey Facebook Become Fan at “Bosnia TV” and “Diplomatically Incorrect” Twitter – Follow us at DiplomaticallyX
