Flu

How to cure flu?.Influenza, or flu, is a viral infection that attacks your respiratory system. Flu is highly contagious and is usually spread by the coughs and sneezes of a person who is infected.

Common flu (influenza) symptoms in adults and older children include:

  • High temperature
  • Cold sweats, shivers
  • Headache
  • Aching joints, aching limbs
  • Fatigue, feeling utterly exhausted
  • Sneezing
  • Runny nose and/or congestion

Prescription antiviral drugs may cure flu when taken shortly after you get sick. In many cases, however, simple home remedies may be all you need for relief of mild to moderate flu symptoms.

Here are several remedies that can cure symptoms of flu.

1.     Breathe Aromatic Steam:

Pour boiled water in a bowl and add at least two teaspoons of shaved ginger. Drape a towel over your head and breathe in the gingered steam. Vick’s Vapor Rub can also be used for the same purpose. Simply drop a heaping spoonful of the balm into the boiling water and stir it until it dissolves. Again, breathe in the steam.

2.     Drink Hot Liquids:

Hot liquids relieve nasal congestion. Drink hot liquids like soup, tea to help prevent dehydration, and soothe the uncomfortably inflamed membranes that line your nose and throat.

3.     Try nasal saline irrigation or saline sprays:

Some scientific studies support nasal saline irrigation as an effective flu remedy to thin mucus, decreases postnasal drip, and adds moisture to dried mucous membranes. In addition, the nasal rinse helps to remove virus particles and bacteria from your nose.

4.     Stay warm and rested:

Staying warm and resting when you have flu, supports your body to have the ability to fight infection. So give it a little help and don't press on with daily chores even in the face of severe cold or flu symptoms.

5.     Drink ginger tea:

Ginger helps stimulate the nerves that lead to mucus production. If you have irritated nasal cavities, then add some sliced ginger in boiling water and let the ginger steep for 5 to 10 minutes.

6.     Take a steamy shower:

Steaming up your bathroom or taking a steamy shower can help moisturize your nasal passages and relax you.

7.     Be Hydrated:

The flu can result in dehydration so be sure to get enough fluids. Drink as much water as you can. So are fruit juices, soda, and electrolyte beverages.

8.      Gargle:

If you have a sore throat, gargle with water or salt water. Gargling may help reduce swelling in the throat and loosen mucus.
