Most of you know that I drive tractor trailer for my J-O-B......
For the past year, I have been pulling TWO trailers in tandem to New Jersey......
Traveling down the SAME toll road and highway......
Two or three times per week!!!
I have been down the New York State Thruway so much......
Over the past twenty years........
I could tell you WHERE your exit is......
And at what mile marker it is at!!
(NOTE: New York is the only state that does NOT number their exits.....
.......to correspond with the mile marker it is at, like other states)
I drive just under three thousand miles per week......
I pass a couple hundred cars and trucks each week.....
Yet, THOUSANDS of cars go by me each week!!
Allow me to share my latest observations!!!
I tend to look down at most of the vehicles as they pass.......
I see business people, usually in a hurry......
Mom’s on their “ump-teenth” errand of the day....
Teenagers, usually, having a good time....
People heading out on vacation........
Construction workers after a long day, or night.......
Subcontractors on their way to a service call......
Newlyweds on their way to a honeymoon, with “Just Married” on the window......
Parents on their way to maybe a second, or third job.......
Elderly people on their way to an appointment.......
Emergency Responders on their way to the latest tragedy.......
People talking or texting on their phone.......
Others reading a map......
Some reading a “report” or the newspaper.......
Each car in its own little world.......
Just sharing the highway with me and others.......
We are ALL going the same direction.....
Some got on this highway before me.....
Others got on after me......
Some will exit this highway after a short distance......
Others will get off farther down than I will......
If I had the ability to do it......
To look at ALL of the vehicles going the other way.....
They would be literally identical to the ones near me......
They have just chosen a different direction to travel!!!
The only thing that truly boggles my mind......
Is the times that there is an accident......
Between vehicles traveling in the SAME direction.....
“Somebody” had to be careless, or inattentive.......
Or “in a hurry” or had a mechanical issue of some type.....
Yet it still does not make any sense!!!
I know, I know.........YOU are wondering......
“Where are YOU going with this story, Jason??”
LIFE can be just like that Interstate highway......
Thousands of people going the direction you are......
And thousands more going the opposite way, as well......
Those traveling YOUR WAY come from all walks of life.....
Some old, some young, some alone, some with others.......
Some in a hurry, some going slow, some just going......
Some got on THIS highway BEFORE you, some AFTER......
Some will not travel as far, yet some will go farther......
Traveling alongside you, in front, or behind.....
You need to be “aware” that they are there.....
But not be afraid of them!!!
You need to be cautious around them......
So that anything they do, or that happens to them........
Does not mess up what YOU are doing.......
If you have gone the home business route......
With people going along with you......
As on our “Interstate”.......
Some are older........some are younger......
Some are slower.......some are faster.......
Some got on this highway a LONG time ago.....
Others like to get off and on frequently......
Still others will be out here long AFTER you.......
You can guide and help some......
Yet, you have to be cautious around others......
Because if they are careless......or reckless.....
Their “accident” can take YOU out too!!!
So......as you travel down “Life’s Highway”......
Or the “Home Business Interstate”........
Buckle up!!
Fill up the tank!!
Clean the windows!!
Adjust the mirrors!!
“Signal” your intentions!!
And.....”watch out” for the “other guy”!!
It IS a tough World out there.......
