Internet Revolution

Since the advent of the Internet, there have been profound changes in the way we live, work or play. Among other things, it has changed the way we interact with each other, the way we work and do business and the way we learn.

Firstly the Internet has brought e-mail to the masses, which made it possible to send messages, digital photos, digital music/videos and anything that can be scanned into a computer to anywhere in the world instantaneously . Gone are the days  when it takes about five days for a letter from the Philippines to reach San Francisco. Besides e-mail, further innovations like instant messaging has also become the norm. This is where, a web camera, users can actually see each other on the computer monitor and speak to each other in real time through a microphone. In the past this convenience is only available to companies that can afford highly expensive video conferencing equipment and exorbitant charges. Nowadays, any two or more persons with computers, web cameras and microphones can do the same at no extra cost. The effect of this technological development is that people are able to stay in close touch with each other even though they could be thousands of kilometers apart. For instance, mothers who pine for their children studying overseas can see and talk to them everyday without having to worry about he phone bill. Not long ago, this is only possible in science fiction movies and fantasies.
