This is where, a web camera, users can actually see each other on the computer monitor and speak to each other in real time through a microphone. In the past this convenience is only available to companies that can afford highly expensive video conferencing equipment and exorbitant charges. Nowadays, any two or more persons with computers, web cameras and microphones can do the same at no extra cost. The effect of this technological development is that people are able to stay in close touch with each other even though they could be thousands of kilometers apart. For instance, mothers who pine for their children studying overseas can see and talk to them everyday without having to worry about he phone bill. Not long ago, this is only possible in science fiction movies and fantasies.
