Just a little bump...

I have been slacking a little bit on the blogging. Probably because not much has been going on in my life. I got injured in my bronze medal match at the Samsun Grand Prix at the end of March. I came home, and rested for about two and a half weeks, while trying to get ready for the Pan American Championships that were being held in Ecuador. I did not give myself enough time to rest, and I knew I was not 100% ready to compete when I got down there. But I thought I could push past the self-doubt and this time I couldn't.

I mentally and physically wasn't ready to compete and this tournament was probably my worse performance to date. I couldn't fight, my head wasn't in the match and I am still beating myself up about it.

It has been exactly a week since the Pan American Championships, and I've returned back to practice with a few goals in mind. The thing I love about judo is that nobody is perfect. There is always something you need to work on. You are always constantly improving. I personally work better when I set a goal every night before practice. It's not always good to work harder, but smarter. I already know that I work hard, But I also need to focus on the little details that will help me win in competition.

I have learned a lot about myself in the past few weeks, and even though I am at a low and am extremely disappointed in myself- I need to think Big Picture and what I am really trying to accomplish. Losing feels horrible, being injured is frustrating- but as the Olympic Qualification period creeps up I need to start taking care of my body more, and training smarter.

My next stop will be the Cuba Grand Prix in 5 weeks!

I also wanted to mention that I just got a shipment of Hannah Martin Shirts - I have 50 more shirts and will be selling them at for $20.00
